The village of Lemont is gearing up for its fourth Christmas Market which will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Granary on Mt. Nittany Road.

Hosted by the Lemont Village Association, this weekend’s event will feature a variety of vendors selling crafts and food, as well as a kids area, said Penny Eifrig, one of the event coordinators.

The vendors, Eifrig said, which total 17, are all local artisans and businesses. Vendors include photography, pottery, locally-made fleece gear, a local publisher, handmade cheese, wreaths, gift baskets, art, soap, cards, paintings, gems and jewelry, holiday CDs, magnets, heat packs, bracelets and baklava, she said.

The children’s area, she said, will be a “festive atmosphere in the grain elevator” that will feature food, drinks, music, and an opportunity to make holiday crafts.

Eifrig said the Christmas Market, which centers around German customs, is a all about “being out … with your neighbors.”

In addition to local vendors, Lemont merchants will also participate in the market, Eifrig said, so she urges people to plan to stay at the event long enough to visit and shop at local stores and restaurants.

“It’s a great way to support your local businesses,” she said.

The market is both an indoor and outdoor venue, and much of the location is in a covered outdoor area, so Eifrig encourages attendees to dress for the weather.

Musicians and volunteers are needed for the event. For more information call (814) 235-1501. Vendor proceeds from the event will go to funding restoration projects in Lemont.
