Lutz, who hails from Winburne in Clearfield County, spent four years in the Air Force and then went on to Penn State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Human Development. After that, he became a career representative with the job service office for the State of Pennsylvania and the first personnel director for Centre County.
Lutz also spent 17 years working for Supelco in Pleasant Gap, and has been in the staffing business ever since. For the past three years he has been the co-owner of The HR Office in State College, along with partners Jeffrey Krauss and Sandra Cramer.
The HR Office is a business providing staffing services, human resource consulting, and human resource outsourcing. As a staffing service, the HR Office offers services such as recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating job candidates, matching people with personality inventories, and reference and background checking. They provide staffing needs on a temporary, temporary-to-hire, and permanent basis.
The human resource consulting aspect involves working with companies on projects like employee relations issues and problems, such as discrimination and sexual harassment. They also consult on federal and state regulations, organizational structure development, and affirmative action plans. They are able to assist with the management of group insurance plans and the administration of flexible spending accounts and COBRA. They also provide staffing aides such as employee handbooks and employee attitude surveys.
In addition to those services, The HR Office can provide human resource expertise on an outsource basis. For those companies that do not have their own Human Resource department, The HR Office can act as a company<92>s HR department.
Lutz has also used his knowledge in the human resource arena to serve the non-profit sector of the Centre County community. He served on the board of directors for Leadership of Centre County and participated in the first class. He is also presently on the board of directors of Centre Volunteers in Medicine and a member of Society of Resource Management, working with the Centre County chapter.
Lutz has been married to wife, Suzy, who works for Penn State, and has two sons, ages 28 and 30, who now live in Princeton, New Jersey and San Diego, California.
