Snow can get in the way of a lot of things: school, work, events and trips. But it can’t get in the way of love.
Florists throughout the State College area were working diligently Thursday to serve customers’ Valentine’s Day needs.
Many florists were so busy they didn’t have time to talk to reporters, proving the latest round of snow is not slowing down the business of love.
At Woodring’s Floral Gardens, designer Lisa Haas took a minute to explain that her drivers were navigating snowy streets to ensure the many deliveries scheduled for Thursday still reached their destinations.
“Our drivers are being extra careful and it takes them a lot longer to get things out,” Haas says.
Not to worry, though. Recipients have been pleased and grateful when the arrangements arrive during a snowstorm.
“People seem even more appreciative about it because you made the extra effort to get it to them,” Haas says.
Still, the snow has created some extra excitement as many deliveries were scheduled for Thursday, one day before Valentine’s Day. With schools closed and many people working from home, staff at Woodring’s had to rearrange delivery addresses ensuring flowers still reached customers’ loved ones.
“Everybody’s been pretty wonderful. So far we haven’t had any problems,” says Haas.
Valentine’s Day is the single busiest day of the year for florists.
And for any last-minute lovers, Woodring’s is still taking deliveries for Valentine’s Day. And a tip from Haas, “We have lots of beautiful flowers, so please don’t limit yourself to roses.”
