Matt McGloin’s three-touchdown performance last Sunday in his first career NFL start was noticed in more places than just Happy Valley and Scranton.

The former Penn State record-setting quarterback took home NFL Rookie of the Week honors after leading the Oakland Raiders to a 28-23 win on the road against the Houston Texans.

The award for Week 11 was announced Friday afternoon. McGloin beat out Chicago Bears defensive end David Bass, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon, Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel, and Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball for the honor.

McGloin’s 18-32 for 197 yards showing helped the Raiders snap a two-game losing streak. Oakland stayed alive in the AFC wildcard race with a 4-6 record.

The Raider signal-caller who continues to prove doubters wrong will have another shot at a victory and more awards in his second start at home against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
