It’s been nearly two weeks since a fire destroyed 19 apartment units in State College and displaced 40 residents.

And tomorrow, the community will continue to try and help those affected by the blaze, which broke out around 8 p.m. at Waupelani Heights apartments on July 4.

Meetings will be held at the State College Municipal Building, room 201, to offer assistance to the displaced residents. The meetings, which were planned in a joint effort by the American Red Cross, Centre County Office of Adult Services and State College Borough, will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Agencies such as Catholic Charities, Salvation Army and Central PA Community Action, among others, will be involved in the coordination of the event.

Additional agencies will also have staff at the event to help with specific needs or issues any displaced residents may have. Housing Transitions will be at the event to discuss housing needs and opportunities with residents, and Representative Scott Conklin’s office, room 301, will be open to help people replace birth certificates and other identifications destroyed in the fire.

Monetary donations can be made to the Interfaith Human Services – Displaced Residents Fund to help those affected by the fire with relocation costs. Property owners who are interested in helping and have available units can contact Housing Transitions (814-234-7731) to provide information.

Residents can go to the Municipal Building during the scheduled times and free parking is available in the Allen Street lot.
