Mount Nittany Middle School and Mount Nittany Elementary School are joining together this weekend to collect gently-used clothing and other items and distribute them to local families.
The schools are holding their first joint clothing drive, collecting clothes, coats, shoes, boots, backpacks and other items donated by students and parents. A similar event was held by the middle school last year, but this is the first time the two schools are teaming up for the drive.
Donations will be accepted from 3:30-6 p.m. Friday and 8-10 a.m. Saturday in the cafeteria of Mount Nittany Middle School, 656 Brandywine Drive. Volunteers will sort and fold items and families then will be able to shop for free clothing from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and noon-3 p.m. Sunday, also in the middle school cafeteria.
After the event, volunteers will bag remaining items to send to to Goodwill Industries of Northern Central Pennsylvania. Goodwill will make a monetary donation to each school in support of the initiative
