Slow St. Paddy’s: St. Patrick’s Day in State College was slower than usual and was more like a regular weekday under warm weather conditions. Bars crowded by the end of the day but were quiet mid-day and empty in the early morning hours. Police did not report a high number of crimes.
Gyms Combine: Three State College gyms have come under one ownership, and a fourth is set to join this August, The Daily Collegian reported. The West Club will join The North Club, 1510 Martin St., LionHeart Fitness, 127 Sowers Street, and Titan Fitness, previously at 412 W. College Ave., North Club operator Karl Zimmerman told the Collegian.
Scholars Chip: The Creamery has a new flavor of ice cream, Scholars Chip, in support of Penn State’s Honors College, it revealed yesterday. The ice cream is Wilbur’s chocolate and vanilla bean ice cream.
Haas Speech: Centre County resident and Penn State alumna Joyce Haas kicked off her campaign for the state House of Representatives yesterday by telling supporters she would uphold family values. Haas hopes to challenge incumbent Scott Conklin for the 77th seat in the House, The Daily Collegian reported.
