Phi Delta Theta: Former frat Phi Delta Theta will be bought for $1.75 million by Penn State, ending an ongoing legal battle since the frat lost its charter in January of last year. Officials from the Office of the Physical Plant say they may turn the land into a park. The Centre Daily Times reports more.

Office of Physical Plant: Penn State’s Office of Physical Plant is looking to convert its on-campus coal power plant into a natural gas run plant by July 2015. The change could cost up to tens of millions of dollars. The Centre Daily times reports more.

Board of Trustees: The Penn State Board of Trustees on March 19 elected Marianne E. Alexander, James S. Broadhurst, Steve A. Garban, Samuel E. Hayes Jr., George T. Henning Jr., Edward R. Hintz Jr., Rodney P. Hughes, David M. Joyner, Graham B. Spanier, Linda B. Strumpf and John P. Surma as members of its executive committee. The executive committee is composed of nine elected members plus the president of the University and the president of the board as ex officio members.

Penn State Softball: Penn State’s Board of Trustees yesterday approved plans for a new $10.2 million, LEED-certified softball park on the University Park campus. Completion of the facility is scheduled for spring 2011.

The current field has insufficient seating, no locker rooms or restrooms, no training facilities or umpire facilities, and no ticketing area.
