Angelou Speech: Maya Angelou, author of the award-winning autobiography ‘I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,’ spoke Tuesday in Eisenhower Auditorium as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series. ‘I was a writer who thought I could teach, but I’m really a teacher who could write. And I’m delighted to come back (to Penn State). It’s always a wonderful experience being here. … I know you didn’t expect me to preach, and I didn’t bring a Bible, but I am here to say a few things and I mean to say them.’

Drinking Discussion: Local leaders and community members met Tuesday at the borough Municipal Building to discuss the town and university’s drinking problem. At the event, Judge Carmine Prestia asked groups to support allowing him to raise the fine for those charged with alcohol-related crimes. The Daily Collegian has more here.

UPUA: Members of the Penn State football team have gotten involved in this year’s University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) elections. Seventeen Nittany Lions have endorsed David Adewumi for UPUA president, according to The Daily Collegian
