Catholic Student Center: The Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown now has about a year to demolish three College Heights homes to make room for a planned Catholic student center. The borough granted the diocese a demolition permit at the end of last month.

PNC Job Cuts: Seventy-three PNC Bank employees in downtown State College will be laid off this summer, the Pittsburgh-based bank confirmed Friday. All employees were notified this week that they will be let go between July 23 and Aug. 6.

State High Musicians: All six State College Area High School music groups participating in Toronto’s Heritage Music Festival earned gold ratings, the Centre Daily Times reported. They also won the sweepstakes aware for best overall performance.
