After just a few days under the weather, the Lion Shrine’s ear has been repaired by Penn State’s Office of the Physical Plant.
The right ear on the statue broke off over the weekend and Penn State Police were looking into how it happened. Individuals in surveillance camera images who may have had information about the incident were identified and police said the investigation was continuing.
Before the repair was made on Wednesday, Penn State’s 3-D Printing Club fashioned a temporary replacement.
The Nittany Lion tweeted about the recovery Wednesday afternoon.
Surprise! I’m all better. Thanks to @PennStateOPP for fixing me up. ðŸ‘
Maybe let’s keep the celebratory ear rubs to a minimum for a little while 😹 pic.twitter.com/ia0wkVL4zV

The ear has been cracked for decades and has come off on three previous occasions, twice in acts of vandalism and once accidentally.
