Nittany MinitMart Raises More Than $100K for Volunteer Fire Companies

Nittany MinitMart raised a record $117,549.70 with its “Help Us Help Them” campaign benefiting volunteer fire departments, the company announced this week.

In Centre County, Alpha, Hope and Reliance fire companies will each receive direct funding assistance from the program, which supports 35 volunteer fire departments in communities where Nittany MinitMarts are located.

Funding will be used toward training, equipment and supplies, Nittany MinitMart CEO Jim Martin said in a news release.

“We want to thank everyone who contributed to our third annual fundraiser,” Martin said. “We are pleased to be able to step up and help these organizations that we all depend on in so many ways especially during this time of high inflation. Nittany MinitMart is a family-owned business, and we believe it is part of our responsibility to communities to help those who help us.”

The convenience store and gas stations’ parent company, Nittany Energy, donated 1 cent per gallon of gas sold at Nittany MinitMart stores from April 1 through the end of May. Pennsylvania Skill matched Nittany Energy’s donation.

Customers were also able to purchase paper firefighter helmets or fire trucks along with other promotional merchandise sold in the stores to benefit the campaign.

“We have great community support and I felt we could double last year’s total of $56,000, and the response was overwhelming,” Nicole Masullo, Nittany MinitMart division manager, said. “The fundraiser beat all expectations and will make great things possible.”
