Joe Paterno and his coaching staff have spoken with the Penn State football team regarding the alleged involvement of some of the players in an assault that took place in downtown State College last weekend.

According to a report in the Digital Collegian, Paterno expressed his disappointment to his players.

Because the police investigation is continuing, very few details have been released regarding the alleged role of the football players in the incident, in which approximately a dozen men forced their way into a Meridian II apartment and asssaulted some men attending a party there.  No charges have been filed to this point.

State College police officers have been interviewing football players and others involved in the incident, which is believed to have started with a verbal altercation at the corner of High Street and East College Avenue.  (More info)
