Penn State basketball added some height to the equation on Tuesday evening as the Nittany Lions landed a verbal commitment from forward Abdou Tsimbila out of Hagerstown, Md.

Listed at 6-foot-8, the 225-pound prospect is new to the United States having played only one season in the US after a young career in his native Cameroon. This is particularly relevant to the Philadelphia Sixers’ fans as star center Joel Embiid hails from the same as Tsimbila.

George Mason and Coppin State both offered the overseas prospect who announced his commitment on Twitter.

‘I am committing to this school because they have everything I need and I’m really happy to join a big family and I want to say thank you to Coach Chambers and Coach Urgo for giving me this opportunity.’ He said online.

So far Penn State’s 2019 haul is just two players deep with small forward Patrick Kelly announcing his commitment in February earlier this year.

While still exceptionally raw in terms of talent, the addition of another big man gives Penn State flexibility at that position moving forward once Mike Watkins departs the program be it in a year or two down the road.
