Penn State dropped to No. 7 in the new Associated Press and Coaches polls on Sunday afternoon following a heartbreaking loss to Ohio State this weekend in Columbus.
In both polls, the Buckeyes moved up to No. 3 after the win, behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia. Wisconsin is No. 4 in both as well.
In the Coaches Poll, Clemson checks in at No. 5 and Miami at No. 6, with Notre Dame at No. 8. The AP has Notre Dame at 5, Clemson at 6 and Oklahoma at 8.
The first College Football Playoff ranking of the season will be released Tuesday. The CFP ranking ultimately will determine which four teams will move on to the playoffs following the regular season (read: The AP and Coaches Polls basically mean nothing now.)
The Nittany Lions kick off at noon on Saturday at Michigan State, which fell eight spots to No. 24 in the AP Poll and fell out of the Coaches Poll after losing to Northwestern in overtime, 39-31, on Saturday.
