‘As you guys know I don’t typically get into injuries a whole lot, but with Mark being a senior and with this being a season-ending type injury I talked to Mark about this and made sure I’m handling it the way he would want me to,’ Franklin said. ‘He talked to the team about it yesterday. He’s in great spirits.’
Allen didn’t travel with the team to Illinois last week and had previously been listed as the backup to Miles Sanders. So far this season he had carried the ball 24 times for 99 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground through three games.
Out of the backfield Allen also accounted for 25 yards receiving on four receptions. Last season he played five games as a junior, carrying nine times for 38 yards.
