Saquon Barkley’s outstanding season wasn’t overlooked by the nation media as he was named to the USA Today All-Freshman team on Thursday morning. Barkley is listed alongside Iowa State running back Mike Warren.
During the 2015 campaign Barkley racked up 1,007 yards and seven touchdowns nearly all of which came in dazzling highlight fashion. Barkley missed just over two games with an ankle injury midway through the season and set a new single-season rushing record for a Penn State freshman along the way.
Barkley joins the All-Freshman team with the likes of many other young talented players across the nation including UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen, Clemson tackle Mitch Hyatt, Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley, and Missouri defensive tackle Terry Beckner Jr.
Barkley is one of two Big Ten players on the list. Ohio State defensive end Sam Hubbard also got the nod from USA Today.
