For the first time since 2006 Penn State has multiple defensive backs taken in the same draft as Christian Campbell made it three on Saturday drafted 182nd by the Arizona Cardinals.
The sixth round selection comes as Troy Apke and Marcus Allen both heard their names called during the final day of the league’s draft process. Campbell finished the 2017 season with nine pass breakups which ranked ninth in the Big Ten.
During his senior season Campbell registered 45 tackles and picked off two passes to bring his career total to four interceptions. He also forced a fumble.
With the selection Penn State not awaits to hear if Grant Haley will be called in the final round of the draft making it four members of the 2017 secondary drafted this year.
If not, Haley will almost certain sign a free agent deal and find himself in camp this summer. Either way Penn State sits at six Nittany Lions with drafted status to their names so far.
