Welcome back, Penn State fans!
The Nittany Lions appear to have hit their stride, reeling off two consecutive strong wins, improving to 2-1 (1-0 Big Ten) on the season. San Diego State University will invade Beaver Stadium as the programs meet for the first time ever. The Aztecs (1-2) will be the 155th unique opponent Penn State has played in its 129-year history.
The Aztecs have not fared well against Big Ten opponents, having gone 2-14 against the conference. Penn State will look to build off an impressive 28-3 win versus Rutgers, which saw true freshman Saquon Barkley rush for 195 yards. The Nittany Lions defense has been stout early on, forcing opponents into 3-and-outs in the opening drive of every game.
Below is all the must-have media information you’ll need for today’s matchup:
Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time
Television: BTN — Kevin Kugler (play-by-play), Matt Millen (analyst); Lisa Byington (sideline)
Radio: Local: 93.7 FM and 1450 AM | Sirius: Ch. 132 and XM: Ch. 195
Weather: The Nittany Lions haven’t caught a break yet with Mother Nature at Beaver Stadium this season. Rain has ensued every kickoff at Penn State has played at home, so far, but those odds may turn into its favor as temperatures are expected to be in the high 60s with a ZERO percent chance of rain.
Last Time They Met: New blood enters Happy Valley as this will be the first meeting between the Nittany Lions and the Aztecs. Penn State has handled new opponents well late, beating the past 11 new teams they’ve played.
Injuries:
Penn State welcomed Brandon Bell and Grant Haley to the field last week and will hope to do the same with LB Ben Kline (achilles) and OT Andrew Nelson (undisclosed) in the near future but for now the two appear to still remain doubtful.
OUT: TE Adam Breneman (undisclosed); LB Nyeem Waltman-White (knee).
