The Penn State football team’s 2011 Big Ten home opener will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8, the university athletics department announced this week.

That game, to be played against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Beaver Stadium, will be carried on television by ABC Sports. For viewers outside ABC’s regional-telecast coverage area, ESPN will provide the ABC telecast.

Kickoff times have now been announced for the next four Penn State football games. The Indiana game, scheduled for Oct. 1 in Bloomington, will begin at noon; the Iowa game, at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8; the Purdue game, at noon Oct. 15 at Beaver Stadium; and the Northwestern game, at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 in Evanston, Ill.

The kickoff time and television-coverage details for each other Penn State game this season will be announced six to 12 days prior to the game, according to the university.
