Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Visit 9/11 Memorial

Penn State football players took some time out of their busy prep work and the hustle and bustle of bowl week to visit the 9/11 Memorial in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday morning.

The Nittany Lions will ring the stock exchange bell on Friday morning, visit a show on Christmas Eve and take in the sights on the city all week, but it was clear from tweets and photos the visit to the memorial will be a moment they will always remember.

“Emotional morning w/the team at the @Sept11Memorial. Found the name of my former teammate.” James Franklin tweeted, finding the name of Martin Michael Wartley, a teammate of Franklin’s while at East Stroudsburg.

“Reflecting Absence. 12 Penn State lives lost. Never Forget.” Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop tweeted.

“At the @Sept11Memorial with the team. Paying respect to my fallen @HamiltonCollege teammate Adam Lewis.” Offensive line coach Herb Hand said, posting a photo.

More photos from Penn State’s visit to the memorial can be seen below. The pictures are from the Twitter feeds of Penn State football, Bob Shoop and Herb Hand.
