Penn State might be playing Pitt at night this season as the Pittsburgh Pirates rescheduled its game on the same day from 7:05 PM to 1:05 PM. Matt Fortuna of The Athletic was the first to notice the announcement.

According to the Pirates, the move was done ‘to allow the University of Pittsburgh to schedule its gridiron clash with Penn State University at night.’

The Nittany Lions will be making the trip back to Pittsburgh for the first time since its failed comeback attempt and eventual 42-39 defeat in 2016. While the Pirates and Steelers/Pitt do not share the same facility, they do share the same parking lots with both stadiums in the same portion of the city.

Whether or not Pitt actually goes about scheduling the game for night remains to be seen, but it’s hard to imagine that the two games could happen at the same time. Least of all one team rescheduling without talking to the other.

Penn State will plays in the annual Blue-White Game on April 21 at 3 p.m. Following the 2018-19 season the Nittany Lions will play Pitt once more, in 2019 at Beaver Stadium.
