Penn State returned to the practice field at the crack of dawn Tuesday morning for its full-squad conditioning regimen.

We already gave you the rundown of what goes on in the cold February air while the rest of campus is sleeping.

Almost all is well.

Except one thing.

“We gotta talk about [the music],” head coach Bill O’Brien said. “I love music, but not that music. Fitzy and I are gonna get together on the music choices. I’ll bring my iPod out here.”

Last Friday, the music started blasting at 5:45 a.m. with Ozzie Osbourne’s “Black Rain.”

Here’s the rest of the playlist, for now, for the football team’s early morning workouts — with a heavy dose of heavy metal.

  • Lil Boosie — “Set it Off”

  • Metallica — “Fuel”

  • Metallica — “I Disappear”

  • Static X — “Bled for Days”

  • Disturbed — “The Game”

  • AC/DC — “TNT”

  • P.O.D. — “Boom”

  • Godsmack — “Bad Religion”

  • AC/DC — “Thunderstruck”

“I did not pick the music,” Fitzgerald said. “I won’t take credit or blame for that music out there. That’s picked by our young folks. They’re better at it than me. If it was my music, they probably wouldn’t run as hard.”
