Every year at halftime of the Blue-White game, the Penn State Homecoming Executive Committee releases its logo for the coming fall’s festivities.
The logo, selected to embody the Homecoming 2017 theme “Embrace the Journey, Roar with Pride,” was chosen from a pool of submissions from Penn State graphic design students.
The logo was created by junior Turner Blashford. After three years going with a vertical look, a horizontal logo was chosen. With the Nittany Lion beaming through arms stretched, it’s clear that the embrace theme is embodied.
“I was seriously exploring two other concepts, when I drew a little doodle in the margins,” Blashford said. “The doodle ended up being the route I took for the final logo.”
Homecoming Week 2017 will begin November 5 and all leads up to the game against Rutgers (also the Military Appreciation game) on November 11. More details will be released as the date draws closer for the week of traditions, including the Grand Marshal, Homecoming Court, and parade details.
