Penn State police are warning students to be alert after a report of an indecent assault on campus.
The incident happened in South Residence Halls early Saturday morning.
According to investigators, a student was touched inappropriately at approximately 1:45 a.m. The victim told police it happened near the south loading dock outside McElwain Hall.
The suspect is described as a college-aged man, 5’5” tall, with dark hair and thick eyebrows. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.
A notice from police says “it can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community.”
Police also urge everyone to follow these safety tips:
- Avoid traveling alone at night. Walk with a friend or use the Safe Walk Service at 865-WALK (9255).
- Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe, get to a safe place and call for help. Use the buddy system and watch out for each other.
- If you feel you are being followed, cross the street, yell, run and look for a well-lit area or occupied building.
