Penn State senior Lauren Bajorek tragically died after falling from a balcony in Seville, Spain on Friday night.
She had just completed an eight-week summer internship program in the popular study abroad location.
Penn State Spokesman Reidar Jensen says authorities in Seville are investigating the cause of death, but it appears to have been accidental.
Additional information will be made available by the U.S. Embassy in Spain as the investigation continues.
Bajorek, a finance major with a double minor in Spanish and music performance, described herself as a “dedicated, vibrant, and passionate college student from York, Pennsylvania” on her LinkedIn page. She played the french horn in the Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphonic Band and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi.
Officials in Student Affairs and Global Programs are in direct contact with her family, and Student Affairs is following up with support. Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is available for students who wish to talk.
