A Penn State official said during the Penn State Board of Trustees meeting Friday that the university is working out issues with the new video scoreboards at Beaver Stadium.

Board members Anthony Lubrano and Edward “Ted” Brown noted during the meeting that the new scoreboards had a large number of advertisements and failed to show the score during the first home game of the season.

Ford Stryker with the Office of Physical Plant told the board that fans can expect to see changes during Saturday’s game, which kicks off at 4 p.m. Specifically, Stryker says the scoreboards will in fact feature the game’s score.

“We can expect a different look and feel to the boards tomorrow,” Stryker says. “I received a lot of comments form people after the last game. … It’s a new technology and I think it’s going to take a couple of games so it’s perfect.”

Penn State paid $10 million to replace both scoreboards inside Beaver Stadium.

The 156-foot by 42-foot boards are positioned in the north and south ends of the stadium. Crews tested the boards in August. Fans got their first glimpse of what the boards can do in June when exterior-facing 35-foot by 25-foot, Nittany Lion logos were lit for the first time.

Penn State also says parking and shuttle services for people with disabilities will be upgraded for Saturday’s game. An additional 237 parking opportunities will be available closer to Beaver Stadium, officials say. Additionally, Innovation Park remains an option for fans attending Saturday’s game with yellow parking passes.

The following is part of the upgrade:

— Upgraded shuttle vehicles with enhanced accessibility for fans with ADA needs.

— An increase of 10 ADA-accessible vehicles for the shuttle service to and from Innovation Park, for a total of 26 dedicated shuttle vehicles, 18 of which are fully ADA-accessible.

— Shuttle buses will be staged along Curtin Road immediately adjacent to the stadium between Gates A and B for service to Innovation Park after the game.

— Six shuttle lines will run to and from Beaver Stadium serving areas of Innovation Park, RV lots, Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, East Parking Deck, Nittany Lion Softball Park, Wagner Building, Pegula Ice Arena and the Bryce Jordan Center. At least 36 vehicles will be used for the entire ADA shuttle operation, 30 are fully accessible.

— Dedicated and exclusive ADA parking adjacent to Wagner Building (51 spots) for vehicles able to arrive 2½ hours before the game and depart two hours following the game with a shuttle. (The pre- and post-game time restrictions are due to pedestrian traffic on Curtin Road.)

— An additional 41 spots for a total of 129 spots near the Nittany Lion Softball Park assigned based on NLC points.

— An additional 120 spots in the East Parking Deck available on a first come-first served basis.

— An additional 25 new spots at Pegula Ice Arena on University Drive.
