Penn State World Campus Ranked Best Online Undergraduate Program

Add another item to list of things that Penn State is the best in the world at: online education.

The latest rankings from U.S. News and World Report are at, and Penn State World Campus is tied the top spot in online bachelor’s programs.

The online ‘campus’ is even with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University — Worldwide for the No. 1 spot in the ranking. The next three programs are Western Kentucky University, University of Illinois — Chicago, and University of Georgia. Temple is the second Pennsylvania school on the list at No. 6 and Ohio State is the second Big Ten program at No. 7.

Penn State World Campus also finished at No. 7 in best online MBA programs, No. 7 in best online graduate business programs (excluding MBA), and No. 6 in best online graduate education programs.

“Today almost every major university participates in the online education arena,” said Craig Weidemann, vice president for outreach and vice provost for online education. “Penn State World Campus earned this huge honor because each day, our faculty, staff and academic leaders work hard to ensure that we are providing an outstanding and rigorous learning experience for our adult learners around the globe.”

Penn State launched World Campus in 1988 with just four online programs and 41 students. The online school now offers 125 different degrees and certificates for more than 12,000 students around the world.
