Saturday wasn’t just about football. On one of the most important days of the year for Penn State football recruiting, Cael Sanderson also made strides in building the future of the Nittany Lion wrestling program by picking up two of the premier juniors in the nation.
Roman Bravo-Young of Tucson, Ariz., and Travis Wittlake Jr. of Coos Bay, Ore., announced their commitments to Penn State together in a live broadcast on FloWrestling.com with Ryan Holmes.
Bravo-Young is an undefeated two-time state champion at Arizona powerhouse Sunnyside. He likely projects to either the 126 or 133-pound weight classes.
A two-time Oregon state champion, Wittlake is 84-2 in his high school career and placed bronze this summer at the World Cadet Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. He’s projected to wrestle at either 184 or 197.
I am proud and blessed to announce I’m verbally committed to Penn State University to continue my academic and wrestling career. 🦠#WeAre
