Cael Sanderson, who has Penn State at the summit of college wrestling after just three years, announced a contract extension Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
‘I have a job for 5 more years,’ Sanderson tweeted. ‘Just signed a contract extension. Penn State!!’
Penn State, behind financial behemoth and Board of Trustees member Ira Lubert, hired Sanderson in 2009 and immediately saw wrestling become perhaps the most dominant athletic team at the university.
Within his first three years, Sanderson guided the Nittany Lions to two national championships, two Big Ten Conference titles and coached 14 All-Americans and four individual NCAA champions.
Sanderson, 33, is the most decorated collegiate wrestler ever, amassing a 159-0 career record and four NCAA titles at Iowa State and winning gold at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
