With March Matness just more than a week away, brackets for the 2019 NCAA Championships were released Wednesday night.
Of the nine qualifiers Penn State wrestling will send to the national tournament, seven received top-five seeds.
Senior Jason Nolf (157), junior Mark Hall (174), and senior Bo Nickal (197) all received the top seeds in their weight classes, while junior Vincenzo Joseph (165), senior Shakur Rasheed (184), and senior Anthony Cassar (285) were each seeded No. 2.
The other three qualifiers from Penn State are true freshman Roman Bravo-Young at No. 10 for 133 lbs., sophomore Nick Lee at No. 3 for 141 lbs., and redshirt freshman Brady Berge at No. 12 for 149 lbs.
The NCAA Championships will take place March 21-23 at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena. Penn State, which is coming off an undefeated dual meet season and Big Ten title, will be looking to win its fourth consecutive national title and eighth in nine years.
Nolf, Nickal and Joseph will be aiming for their third individual championships, while Hall is looking for his second.
Nolf, Hall, Rasheed and Nickal are each undefeated on the year, while Joseph and Cassar head into the championships with just one loss each.
