Pine Grove Mills residents experienced a hiccup in their mail service Monday after a car crashed into the Pine Grove Mills Post Office on Sunday afternoon.

Residents were directed to the State College Post Office at 237 S. Fraser St. to pick up their mail on Monday. The community in Ferguson Township doesn’t have regular carrier delivery, and after a car accidentally drove into the side of the post office on Sunday afternoon, the building at 112 E. Pine Grove Rd. was temporarily condemned until the Centre Region Code Administration could deem it safe.

A sign posted outside of the Pine Grove Mills Post Office on Monday said that residents would be able to receive their mail at the rear entry of the building beginning Tuesday.

Ferguson Township Police responded to the call of a one-vehicle accident at 12:04 p.m. Sunday. Ruth Dorpowsky, 77, had accidentally pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, crashing into the side of the post office building. Dorpowsky was not injured in the accident.

The Code Administration said a detailed inspection could take several days.
