Philipsburg Man Killed in Stabbing; Suspect Charged with Homicide

A Philipsburg man has been charged with homicide after a deadly stabbing on Friday in Rush Township.

Brian C. Lyncha, 41, of Philipsburg, died from a stab wound to the chest during an altercation around 5 p.m. on Flood Lane in Rush Township, according to state police at Rockview.

Fernando Rosado-Guzman, 35, also of Philipsburg, and Lyncha were allegedly involved in a physical altercation that led to the stabbing. Rosado-Guzman was taken into custody near Flood Lane, police wrote in a news release.

First responders attempted to provide life-saving medical assistance, but Lyncha died at the scene.

Police did not immediately detail the circumstances of the altercation that led to the stabbing.

Rosado-Guzman is charged with criminal homicide and one misdemeanor count of possessing instruments of crime.

He was arraigned on Saturday morning by District Judge Kelly Gillette-Walker and denied bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31.
