A State College man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly assaulted another man with a box cutter and a Hennessy bottle during an altercation at borough apartment complex.
Gannon L. LeCavalier, 21, was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct and a summary offense of harassment.
Police responded just after midnight Sunday to the 800 block of Southgate Drive, where they found “large amounts of blood” in the hallway of an apartment building and located LeCavalier, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
LeCavalier told police that a man who is known to him came to the hallway outside his apartment and tried to fight him, according to police. LeCavalier produced a box cutter that he used to slash the man’s face at least three times, “resulting in major injuries to the victim,” police wrote.
He also allegedly struck the man with a bottle of Hennessy cognac and punched him multiple times. The man’s girlfriend then pepper sprayed both men, according to the affidavit.
Police wrote that both men were seen by EMS, but not disclose the extent of injuries to the alleged victim.
LeCavalier was arraigned by District Judge Steven Lachman on Sunday morning and posted bail, which was set at 10% of $50,000 on Tuesday.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 14.
