Police Respond to Car-Motorcycle Crash in College Township; Helicopter Called to Scene

Update 8 p.m. Aug. 27: A 22-year-old motorcyclist died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Original report:

A medevac helicopter was called to the scene after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle Monday afternoon near State College.

The collision happened at about 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of East College Avenue and Struble Road in College Township.

A STAT MedEvac helicopter was dispatched to a landing zone established nearby on Shiloh Road behind the Nittany Mall, and one person was flown to a hospital. Information about injuries and details of the crash were not yet available.

State College police were investigating.

College Avenue in the area of the crash was restricted to one lane and Struble Road was closed for about two hours for crash reconstruction and clean-up.

Centre LifeLink EMS and Alpha Fire Company also responded.
