A College Township man is facing charges after police responded to a report of a domestic assault on Thursday.
Yanzhi Du, 19, was charged with felony strangulation, misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment.
According to a criminal complaint, State College Police responded to a call at about 11:15 a.m. on Thursday at a College Township residence. A woman, who police described as ‘visibly upset,’ allegedly said that Du punched her in the face with a closed fist and choked her.
Police say the woman had a red mark on her right cheek and that photos were taken of her ‘obvious injuries.’
Du did not answer any questions or make a statement, according to the complaint. He was arraigned before District Judge Ronald Horner with bail set at $10,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
