Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny has another merit to put on his strong collegiate resume.
Senior Posluszny has now become just the second two-time winner of the Bednarik Award. The award was presented at the nationally televised Home Depot College Football Awards Show at the Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk.
The Bednarik Award is presented to the nation’s top defensive player by the Maxwell Football Club. Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald presented Posluszny with the award, as he was the only previous two-time winner of the award.
Posluszny also was named to the Waler Camp Football Foundation All-America team.
Junior Dan Connor was also a finalist for the Bednarik Award, making Penn State the first school to have a pair of finalists for the award in the 12 years the honor has been presented.
Posluszny is also a finalist for the Lott Trophy, which will be awarded Sunday to the nation’s IMPACT defensive player of the year.
