The house of a fraternity suspended by Penn State last week was vandalized late Sunday night or early Monday morning.

An unknown person threw a brick through a window of Chi Phi fraternity, on East Hamilton Avenue in State College, sometime between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 a.m. Monday. State College police are investigating the incident.

The Alpha Delta chapter of Chi Phi was placed on interim suspension following the death of a visiting Erie high school student at another off-campus residence that does not belong to the fraternity but which was ‘allegedly occupied by Chi Phi’ members, according to the university.

Police and EMS responded to a medical emergency call on Oct. 19 at a West College Avenue residence, where they found 17-year-old John “Jack” Schoenig in cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schoenig had no signs of trauma, police said, and the Centre County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Oct. 21, but test results won’t be known for several weeks. State College police and Penn State’s Office of Student Conduct are both conducting investigations into the circumstances of Schoenig’s death and Alpha Chi will remain on suspension ‘until more information is known,’ according to a university statement.
