Gunshots triggered by a domestic dispute led to a tense police stand-off in Ferguson Township Monday night.
Police were called to a home in the 1100 block of Circleville Road at 10:23 p.m. after a report of shots fired.
According to police, a man who was said to be drunk got into a fight with family members. The man threatened to kill himself and anyone who tried to interfere, before holing up in his bedroom.
Family members left the residence and told police they heard what may have been gunshots. Those family members also warned officers there may have been multiple guns inside.
Police from Ferguson and Patton Townships surrounded the home and contacted the man on the phone. He refused to come out.
The Centre Region Tactical Response and the Tactical Negotiations teams were called in, along with officers from State College, Spring Township and Penn State. Circleville Road was shut down between Blue Course Drive and Park Hill Avenue.
Police eventually managed to re-establish contact with the man and he surrendered. The unidentified man is now undergoing a mental health evaluation.
