Bellefonte-based Restek recently was named Company of the Year by the ESOP Association’s Pennsylvania/Delaware Chapter.

ESOP, or employee stock ownership plan, is a corporate structure in which the employees of a company are also its owners. Restek transitioned to 100 percent employee ownership on Dec. 31, 2008.

“Employees at Restek are fully engaged in the ownership culture,’ Jeff Gelburd, chapter president, said in a release. ‘They also have done wonderful work in advocacy both in Pennsylvania and in Washington D.C., Restek is very deserving of this award and should be a top contender to win the national award at The ESOP Association meeting next May.”

The Pennsylvania/Delaware chapter is one of 18 that provides educational services and resources to members nationwide.

A developer and manufacturer of chromatography products, Restek has more than 450 employees in the United States and internationally. Analysts use Restek products to monitor the quality and safety of air, water, soil, food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and petroleum.

Restek previously won Company of the Year in 2007 and two of its employees have won the chapter’s Employee-Owner of the Year award.

“Restek is a family-oriented company that is owned by its employees. While our business is scientific, our culture is all about teamwork and taking care of our fellow employees so that we can better serve our customers and our community,’ said Bryan Wolcott, Restek president and head coach said. We are honored to be recognized by the ESOP Association and encouraged to continue serving others through our business, our charity, and our ESOP advocacy.”

The company has received various honors as one of Pennsylvania’s top places to work and has been among The Wall Street Journal’s Top Small Workplaces.
