Rita’s Italian Ice is moving from its downtown State College location to North Atherton Street next spring, according to a sign recently posted in its window.
“We are moving to North Atherton Street (next to Champs) from next season (March 2021),” the sign reads.
It was unclear which address on North Atherton Street Rita’s will be moving to and neither the State College Rita’s nor its corporate office immediately responded to requests for comment.
Rita’s has operated out of 119 E. Beaver Avenue in State College since 2007. It recently reopened its downtown store after the state loosened business restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic and appears as if it will continue operating before moving after the season ends. The Italian ice and frozen custard shop operates seasonally, typically opening in March each year, and also runs a food truck.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
