Drivers will encounter lane closures and traffic controls as road work begins Monday on North Atherton Street at the Woodycrest Street intersection in Patton Township, according to PennDOT.
Contractor Ameron Construction will be upgrading traffic signals and extending the westbound turning lane for the entrance to Aldi. The work is being completed by the developer of the Patton Crossing development, where Aldi was the first building constructed, and is not associated with a PennDOT project.
Starting Monday, the left (passing) lanes on the eastbound and westbound sides of North Atherton Street will be closed while Ameron rebuilds the center (turning) lane. Traffic will shift to the right lane while passing through the work zone for the duration of this phase.
PennDOT expects minimal traffic impacts, but drivers should remain alert for intermittent flagging and plan extra time for travel.
Work at the Woodycrest intersection is expected to be completed in August, after which work at the North Atherton Place intersection will begin.
