Roadwork on a section of Route 45 through Penns Valley is expected to cause travel delays during the morning commute this week, according to PennDOT.
Crews will be performing roadway maintenance and repair operations between Millheim and Centre Hall in Penn and Gregg townships beginning at 7 a.,m. each day through Friday, May 17. Flaggers will provide traffic control.
“PennDOT representatives note that every attempt to prioritize traffic flow, including morning school traffic, will occur,” the department wrote in a news release.
Work includes “mill-and-fill” and base repair of cracked, potholed or distorted pavement sections. Distressed material will be removed and replaced, and the new material then will be compacted before being overlaid with new asphalt.
“Base repair extends the service life of good and fair roads and provides a smooth, safe ride for motorists,” PennDOT wrote in the release.
