The trial for accused murderer Andrew Rogers has been postponed until April 9.

Rogers’ trial was initially scheduled for February on first- and third-degree homicide charges.  Rogers is charged in connection to Feb. 23, 2006 incident in which Penn State student Youngcheol Park was bludgeoned to death.

Police say 28-year-old Rogers beat 24-year-old Park with beer bottles, a rolling pin, and a baseball bat inside Rogers’ State College home.

Rogers told police he was acting in self-defense when Park and a man called “Sweet” tried to rob him and then attacked him.  However, police have been unable to find “Sweet” and officials do not believe he necessarily exists. Recent evidence turned over to Rogers’ public defenders includes a bloody footprint that they believe proves “Sweet” exists.

The trial has been postponed in order to ensure the defense has all the evidence against Rogers and due to questions regarding the potential jury pool.
