It turns out that Jerry Sandusky will not have his appeal heard in a high school auditorium. That hearing will instead take place at the Luzerne County Courthouse in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The hearing was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 17 in the Dallas High School auditorium in Dallas, Pa. It will still be heard on Sept. 17, but the time was moved to 3 p.m.
Art Heinz, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Superior Court says, “Sandusky’s appeal was moved because of the perceived interest by the media and the public.”
The former Penn State defensive coordinator was convicted in June 2012 on 45 counts of sexually abusing boys he met through his charity, The Second Mile. He was sentenced in October to serve 30 to 60 years in prison.
Sandusky’s attorneys have asked for a new trial claiming they weren’t given enough time to prepare their defense and that Senior Judge John Cleland allowed hearsay testimony.
