It likely comes as no surprise to anyone involved with the State College Area School District that superintendent Dr. Robert ‘Bob’ O’Donnell’s contract was renewed.
O’Donnell, who has led the district and its 7,000+ students since 2011, will stick around for another five years as the school board unanimously approved the contract at a Monday evening meeting.
A press release from the district listed some of the many accomplishments during O’Donnell’s first five years, including the launch of the CEEL after-school program, an improved credit rating, the bond referendum passed for the new high scool, and the restoration of the the curriculum development staff.
“Dr. O’Donnell has accomplished a great deal during his tenure with the State College Area School District and we are pleased to approve his contract for another five years,” board president Amber Concepcion said. “His dedication to high-performing schools and his commitment to the wellbeing and growth of our students have been exhibited throughout his time with us.”
O’Donnell’s new contract will run from July 2016, when his initial contract comes to an end, to June 2021. He will earn an annual salary of $197,500, with annual 2 percent increases with the possibility to earn an additional 1.5 percent increase each year. The contract is available to view here.

For such a strong district to become even better, it will continue to take all of us pulling in the same direction.”
