About 1,600 athletes from across the United States and abroad competed in the 2024 Ironman 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley on a humid Sunday in Centre County.
Marking its second year, the 70.3-mile triathlon started with a 1.2 mile swim in Sayers Lake at Bald Eagle State Park and continued with a 56-mile bike ride that went into Clinton County before coming back through the Nittany Valley and over Centre Hall Mountain. After descending into Centre Hall, participants made their way toward State College and the Penn State campus, where a 13.1-mile run concluded the race with the finish line at the 50-yard line of Beaver Stadium.
Kiel Bur, of Savannah, Georgia, was the top overall finisher with a time of 4:25:02. Caroline Moyer, of Malvern, was the top women’s finisher for the second consecutive year with a time of 5:02:11. See full results at ironman.com/im703-pennsylvania-results.
