School Board Seeks Input on High School Renovations: Thousands Will be Asked to Complete Surveys

The State College Area School Board is working on a new approach to gather feedback on potential renovations to State College Area High School.

According to Julie Miller, public information specialist for State College Area School District, the district has contracted a professional research company, Social Science Research Solutions, to design and conduct a survey of State College area residents’ attitudes on proposed renovations to the high school.

Potential renovations to the high school’s existing facilities has been a topic of discussion over the past few months. At Monday’s school board meeting, the board heard a presentation from Crabtree, Rohrbaugh and Associates, the architectural firm hired to design the renovations. Multiple design concepts are currently being considered.

Miller says that 6,750 individuals will receive the survey, and the board hopes to receive at least 1,000 responses returned. Participants will be randomly selected from registered voters and taxpayers in the school district by Social Science Research Solutions.

The board hopes that the survey will help shed light on which option is most preferred by area residents.

The survey is still being developed by Social Science Research Solutions. Miller says the goal is for it to be completed and mailed to those selected by mid-May.
