Part of a busy downtown State College road will be closed to traffic for about six hours on Monday, Nov. 2.
South Atherton Street between West College and West Beaver avenues will be closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a crane to lift elevator equipment onto the Graduate by Hilton hotel, according to PennDOT.
The official posted detours will direct drivers to use state-owned roads.
Eastbound traffic (headed toward Boalsburg) will follow West College Avenue, South Buckhout Street and West Beaver Avenue to return to South Atherton Street, PennDOT wrote in a news release. Westbound traffic (heading into State College) will follow Beaver Avenue, High Street and College Avenue to reach North Atherton Street
Pedestrian detour signage will also be posted.
Flaggers will be stationed at the Atherton Street intersections with College and Beaver to help direct traffic, and emergency vehicles will be permitted through the closure area if needed.
