A woman reported her 19-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted over the weekend at a Penn State fraternity, State College police said Tuesday.
It happened during a party at the Phi Gamma Delta house, 319 N. Burrowes Road, according to the woman’s report. She said her daughter, a student at the university, was assaulted by a male known to her.
The reported assault bears no apparent connections to the DNA-linked rapes noted in State College borough earlier this month, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
Among other reports that State College police relayed Tuesday:
- Two Penn State students have been identified in connection with a counterfeit-cash case, police said. Police said the students were making fake $1 and $5 bills, using the false currency on campus and in downtown State College. ‘A few’ of the fake bills were used, including at the downtown McDonald’s restaurant, according to a police report. The students are likely to face felony charges of forgery, police said. A search warrant turned up evidence the fake money was printed in a University Park dorm room, they said. The students’ names were not released Tuesday.
- More than $700 in tools and miscellaneous paint supplies were reported stolen from the front yard at 454 E. Prospect Ave., police said. The report was filed at 2:40 p.m. Monday.
- A MacBook Pro laptop computer and an external hard drive together valued at $1,900 were reported stolen from an unlocked apartment at 1006 S. Pugh St., police said. The theft happened sometime between 6 p.m. Monday and midnight Tuesday, according to a police report.
- A 41-year-old homeless man, David Rainelli, was arrested and jailed on a trespassing charge this week, police said. He entered an apartment at 218 S. Atherton St., fled and later was found sleeping in a basement area at 221 S. Barnard St., according to a police report. He was arrested in late December — in a separate matter — for receiving stolen property, police said.
